In the early 1920’s, my Grandfather’s career as a commercial artist began in San Francisco. He specialized in product design for wine labels, malt liquor, booze, and other house-hold items; he was the brainchild behind many designs that still exist today.

FERMENTATION

Fermented in stainless steel and small open top bins. The fruit was hand sorted and de-stemmed, followed by a 3 day cold soak with one pump over per day. Pressed off the skins at 6 degrees Brix; aged for 18 months in neutral and once-used French oak barrels.

TASTING NOTES

Dark fruit followed by lighter notes of rhubarb and red fruits. Tobacco, pie crust, and a very slight fruit roll-up character. Nice depth and richness. Higher acidity levels balance nicely with the natural richness of Petite Sirah. Tannins are well integrated and contribute a seamless texture to the wine.
